The Irish Marine Industry Network visits Cork & NMCI
[Cork, February 16th 2018]
HALPIN had the privilege of hosting members of the Irish Marine Industry Network during their networking visit to Cork this week. The event was organised by Enterprise Ireland with support from NMCI, the Irish Naval Service, LIR, MaREI, UCC and Ireland Ocean Racing. The event kicked off with a tour of the L.E. James Joyce, one of the new P6 offshore patrol vessels recently delivered to the Navy, followed by a visit to meet the Ireland Ocean Racing team and see the team's boat. A networking dinner followed, hosted at the Irish Naval Base on Haulbowline Island on Thursday evening. The dinner was attended by a diverse group of 40+ marine & maritime businesses and other organisations. A very useful evening was spent by attendees, many whom were meeting for the first time. A number of substantive connections had been made before time was called so people could rest up before a busy agenda of site visits on Friday.
On Friday the group visited MaREI and the LIR National Ocean Energy Test Facility at Ringaskiddy, an informative engagement that was enjoyed by all. The final stop on the tour was to NMCI where HALPIN gave a tour of the College's faciities. There was an active Q&A session throughout the tour as it was the first time many attendees had visited NMCI. A networking lunch at NMCI followed the tour. That this was another very successful networking event was clear from the very positive comments received from attendees. The next IMIN networking event is planned for Summer 2018, details to follow.
